Disc Springs are conically-shaped precision components designed to be axially loaded. Disc Springs are often incorrectly referred to as belleville disc springs, belleville springs, belleville washers or simply conical washers. SPIROL offers the full range of DIN EN 16983 (formerly DIN 2093) Group 1 and 2 Disc Springs in Series A, B, and C. In addition to the DIN specified sizes, SPIROL stocks its own standard sizes with outside diameters ranging from Ø8mm to Ø200mm. SPIROL's Series LP500 Latch Pins for Plastics are designed with a barb located under the head with a barb length equal to the width of the outermost section of the assembly. The remaining length of the LP500 Latch Pin is smooth without any other retention features. This allows the LP500 Latch Pin for Plastic to easily align and freely install through all of the holes with a plastic assembly until the barb makes contact with the final hole to securely lock the pin in place. Once fully installed, the handle will pivot freely around the non-barbed end of the stationary pin. The head prevents the LP500 Latch Pin from being over-installed, and enables the pin to be mechanically oriented for automatic installation. This innovative product is manufactured from strip steel, and then OD ground to achieve extremely tight diameter tolerances that enable critical alignment up to 20µm.
The main advantage of the GD100 Ground Hollow Dowel is its ability to achieve the same alignment as the Ground Solid Dowel with a significant reduction in cost due to its hollow construction. SPIROL's Barbed Pins were created specifically for use in flexible plastics where optimum resistance to axial force is desired. The raised barbs are angled backwards, opposite the direction of insertion. After installation, the plastic will backfill into the area around the barbs resulting in maximum retention. Barbed Pins are ideal for applications requiring high pull-out (tensile) strength, and to prevent disassembly (i.e. tamperproof ). Barbs are not appropriate for brittle plastics or those containing high percentages of fillers. As barbs are a radial feature, they do not resist rotation of two components relative to one another. For this requirement, a straight or helical knurl should be used. All Barbed Pins are provided with a generous pilot to facilitate alignment with the hole and ease installation.

SPIROL offers a line of light duty and heavy duty Pin Driving Chucks designed to be used in SPIROL’s Manual Pin Inserters (Model PM, Model PMH or Model PMX). A Pin Driving Chuck may also be used in a drill press or arbor press with an adaptor. All Pin Driving Chucks are designed with spring tension at the tip to hold the pin securely in place prior to and during installation. The exposed end of the pin is then placed into the hole and the tool is advanced to complete the installation. The tools are supplied with a flush, above-flush or below-flush setting, depending on the application requirements.

QuellTech Solution
For this purpose, QuellTech offers a perfectly tailored seam tracking solution, which is based on a QuellTech 2D-Laserline Sensor of the Q4 family. The method consists in measurement of the real position and width immediately ahead of the welding process. The laser sensor captures the real dimension of the weld bead, and the software used for this process simultaneously sends the nominal position to the robot. The robot performs a correction movement in X or Z position according to this measurement. This way not only the deviation caused by tolerances, but also the warping effect can be compensated – and the weldment takes place exactly at the required position. The QuellTech 2D-Laserline Sensor is specially prepared to the highly disturbing ambient light from the weld process. It can be cooled and protected from weld spatter, so this model proves to be particularly adequate for operation in the harsh environment of the welding process.

SPIROL offers a line of austenitic stainless steel Disc Springs in diameters ranging from Ø8mm to Ø71mm. Austenitic stainless steel is typically used for static and low cycle applications that require a heightened level of corrosion resistance. It withstands fresh water and atmospheric marine conditions very well, and is suitable for many other industrial conditions including acidic environments. This material will continue to work harden with use so cycle life is limited, but creep resistance is good.
SPIROL supplies both single Disc Springs as well as Pre-Stacked Disc Springs in custom configurations, packaged in shrink wrap with a perforated tab for easy of assembly.

A fuel injection systems manufacturer used two steel brackets to clamp the fuel rail to the top of the engine. The customer was looking at changing these brackets to plastic to reduce costs. In order to prevent deformation of the plastic bracket during the tightening of the bolt, a Compression Limiter was required. The customer originally investigated the use of a machined Compression Limiter, but the savings from changing the metal bracket to plastic would have been lost considering the high price of the machined Limiter. The customer approached SPIROL to help provide a lower cost solution for the Compression Limiter.
SPIROL recommended the use of a standard CL200 Compression Limiter based on the rated proof load of the bolt used in the assembly. This roll-formed Compression Limiter is a fraction of the cost of a machined Compression Limiter. In addition, the flexibility of the roll formed Limiter enabled the customer to widen their hole tolerances further reducing assembly costs.
