SPIROL Standard Slotted Spring Pins have a slot width narrower than the wall thickness and thus do not nest or interlock. This feature, combined with a smaller expanded (pre-insertion) diameter, results in a number of advantages for SPIROL Standard Slotted Pins compared to ISO 8752 pins including:
• Lower insertion force and smoother insertion.
• Rounder pins, which in turn results in better conformance of the pin to the hole wall and eliminates the edge of the slot damaging the hole during insertion.
• Lower stress in the spine of the installed pin. This results in longer pin life in shock or fatigue applications.
• Ability to use automatic vibratory feeding of pins for installation without interlocking.
• Plating of pins for additional corrosion resistance or appearance without “touch marks” or the bonding of nested pins.

SPIROL's FH400 Headed Barbed Pin has a series of barbs extending down the entire length of the pin. Headed Barbed Pins are a great replacement for self-tapping screws in plastic assemblies as Barbed Pins are installed into standard moulded (or drilled) holes, they install much faster than screws, and they eliminate issues associated with cross-threaded or skewing during installation. Unlike screws that resist back-out (or loosening) by being tightened to a preset torque, Barbed Pins are retained by the plastic backfilling over the aggressively-designed barbs. The head provides a positive stop and is also used to retain a thin component to a thicker component within an assembly. SPIROL's FH400 Headed Barbed Pins are available in metric diameters ranging from Ø2mm to Ø6mm and inch diameters ranging from Ø.078" (5/64) to Ø.250" (1/4) in low carbon steel and austenitic stainless steel.
SPIROL invented the Coiled Spring Pin in 1948. Truly an engineered fasteners, the Coiled Pin is available in three duties, light, standard and heavy, to enable the designer to choose from the optimum combination of strength, flexibility and diameter to suit different host materials and application requirements. Their shock absorbing design dampens forces and vibration to prevent hole damage and prolong assembly life.
Light Duty Coiled Spring Pins are generally recommended for soft, brittle or thin materials such as plastics, aluminium, die castings, ceramics, and where holes are located close to an edge of the assembly. In situations not subjected to significant loads, such as when used purely for alignment or as an axle, light duty Coiled Pins are often used because of easy installation resulting from lower insertion force.
SPIROL's FH300 Headed Helical Knurled Pin has the same body style as the KP300 Helical Knurled Pin, with the addition of a head. A Headed Pin is typically used to provide a positive stop or to retain a thin component to a thicker component within an assembly. FH300 Headed Helical Knurled Pins have a flat head, however they are available to order with a round head (RH300) to meet specific application requirements. Similar to the SPIROL Series KP300 Helical Knurled Pin offering, SPIROL's FH300 Headed Helical Knurled Pins are available in metric diameters ranging from Ø2mm to Ø6mm and inch diameters ranging from Ø.078" (5/64) to Ø.250" (1/4) in low carbon steel and austenitic stainless steel.

SPIROL's Series 880 Coiled Spring Pin was designed specifically for use as the hinge pin for PC board card lock and ejector clip mechanisms. The quality of the hinge is unsurpassed by other fastening methods due to the low insertion force and compression of the pin during and after installation. As with all Coiled Spring Pins, the Series 880 hinge pin for PC board card locks and ejector clips is self-retaining, and thus no secondary processes are required for retention. The stainless steel probe DCL 531 with RS485 interface uses the communication protocol Modbus RTU which has found the way in industrial communication as an open protocol. The Modbus protocol is based on a master Slave architecture with which up to 247 Slaves can be questioned by a master – the data are transferred in binary form.

The machines can install a single Compression Limiter or multiple Compression Limiters simultaneously into various polymers, thermoplastics and thermosets.

The SPIROL Model PH Heat Insert Driver provides an accurate and consistent method to simultaneously install multiple Threaded Inserts or Compression Limiters at multiple elevations. Simultaneous installation dramatically increases productivity and simplifies the number of manufacturing steps to complete an assembly. Additionally, the platen head and fixture can be easily changed to accommodate quick change-over to different assemblies associated with new production runs.
This machine can be used to install 12 Inserts into 1 assembly, or a fewer number of Inserts into a larger number of assemblies – as long as the total combination does not exceed 12 Inserts.
SPIROL's Knurled Pins are manufactured with two different knurl types: straight knurls and helical knurls. Unlike a Straight Pin, where retention is provided by the uniform interference between the pin and hole, Knurled Pins are designed to cut into the host. The displacement of the host material into the valleys of the knurls yields more frictional contact area between the Knurled Pin and hole; thus resulting in higher retention. Solid Pins with retention features such as knurls and barbs allow for wider hole tolerances than Solid Pins without retention features (i.e. Straight Pins).

Heat / Ultrasonic Inserts are designed for post-mould installation in thermoplastics. Heat and ultrasonic installation yield outstanding performance results. SPIROL offers several different series of Heat/Ultrasonic Inserts available in a long and short version of each thread size. Long lengths maximize torque and pull-out resistance, while short lengths are good for less stringent requirements at lower cost and shorter installation times. Some styles are available with or without a head. The head provides bearing surface for the mating component that also prevents jack-out (or when used in reverse, can prevent pull through). However, adding a head results in additional cost raw material of a larger diameter is required to create the head. Some non-headed Inserts are symmetrical – thus eliminating the need to orient the Insert prior to installation.
Press-In Inserts are designed to be pressed into a straight hole without melting the plastic prior to installation. Ideal for use in softer plastics, the helical knurls of the Press-In Inserts are used to provide both torque and pull-out resistance and to ensure good plastic flow as the Insert rotates into the hole. Installation torque to achieve sufficient tension between the threads is not a problem in that the helical knurls are designed so that the direction of the installation torque will have the tendency to drive the Insert into the hole — which of course is not possible — as the threaded joint is tightened. A pilot only slightly smaller than the hole and of sufficient length is designed to assure straight insertion into the hole. Press-In Inserts offer rapid installation with no specialized equipment and achieve good overall joint performance.

Since the development of coil springs in turret tooling, engineers have been challenged to increase the productivity of turret presses even further. In a traditional press, the option of material type and material thickness is limited by the coil springs inability to produce a high force in a short linear distance. When this performance is necessary, coil springs will have a negative effect on the quality of the formed product and efficiency of the manufacturing process.
SPIROL® Disc Springs are the solution to form thick materials, large extrusions, and more complex designs. When stacked in series, they are capable of providing a greater, more consistent stripping force than coil springs and require less space.
