With its rugged housing and a stainless steel sensor element, the transducer is particularly robust and ideally suited to the harshest environments. This also means that the sensor can be installed anywhere with no effect on the measurement signal. The built-in instrumentation amplifier converts the sensor signals into noise-immune voltage signals or current signals that can be transmitted over relatively long distances. For high viscose materials, a front-level membrane M12 x 1 is available, and with this disruptive dead volumes can be expelled.
The sensor has a small protected hole on the rear to allow measurement of atmospheric pressure (measurement type relative). For the absolute measurement option, the applied pressure is measured with respect to an enclosed vacuum.
As an electrical connection, a DIN 43650A valve connector or an M12 x 1, 4-pin connection is available.

If, in a highly sensitive control system, the amplification should, for example, be so arranged that the control circuit will be stable with the mean slope (gradient) of the sensor, then it is important to be aware of any variations there may be in that slope (Fig. 12a, Fig. 12b). If, at any point, the gradient is appreciably steeper than the mean gradient, then there will be a higher closed-loop gain in this position and this could lead to feedback oscillation. If, on the other hand, the gradient is less steep at some point than the mean gradient, then repeatability would be reduced and there would be less control accuracy. If we relate this type of local gradient
variation gl to the mean gradient go of the potentiometer, then this criterion is independent of the potentiometer length and can be used for the direct comparision of various potentiometers.

Ausgerüstet mit robustem Gehäuse und einem Messelement aus Edelstahl ist der Sensor besonders widerstandsfähig und für härteste Umgebungsbedingungen geeignet, auch die Einbaulage hat keinen Einfluss auf das Messsignal. Der integrierte Messverstärker wandelt die Messsignale direkt in störsichere und über längere Strecken übertragbare Spannungssignal oder Stromsignal um. Für hochviskose Stoffe steht eine frontbündige Membran M12 x 1 zur Verfügung, damit kann störendes Totvolumen ausgeschlossen werden.
Zur Messung des Umgebungsdrucks (Messart relativ) befindet sich eine kleine Öffnung geschützt auf der Rückseite des Sensors. Bei der Option absolut messend wird der angelegte Druck gegen ein eingeschlossenes Vakuum gemessen.

High-precision pressure sensors from the 8201 series provide exact measurements while exhibiting very little sensitivity to mechanical stresses. Their application therefore goes well beyond research and development laboratories. They are also outstandingly suited to industrial use in quality assurance or for measurement and control tasks in production. Their robust mechanical and electrical construction guarantees good long-term stability and high reliability, while being resistant to aggressive media – which can be measured in liquid or gaseous states.
